Your class can put up feedback on a virtual “bulletin board”. In this wall

teachers gave feedback about how an after-school technology workshop went. As a result of the feedback, we’re meeting in small groups today, rotating through stations.

Focus Week Videos on China

I used Animoto to produce quick 3-minute videos, with music, with cool wipes and fades. I fed it 10 second videos, or longer ones that it took the first 10 seconds of, and did this:

Fry Flash

http://www.candohelperpage.com/files/sight_vocab/updated_flashcards/fry_flash_100_01_25.swf

This webpage tests kids on their sight words (using the Fry List). You (or a good reader in the class) clicks “Yes” or “No” after the reader reads each word. There are 25 words in each set. At the end of 25 words, you can Print the results. Make sure you put Name and Date on the top!

Fry Words 1-25 have a “100″ in the link. Change that to “200″ for the next set, “300″ for the next set, and so on.

Help Students Most By Using Novelty!

Here’s why helping kids do novel tasks grows the brain more than repetitive tasks:
Once the task is learned, brain energy slows. Students who were taught creatively, with novelty (and I like to think the Harley Way), score better than kids with teachers teaching to the test!

Stencils and Beginning Step by Step Drawing

Do you have any stencils? I’m having kids trace a square, for example, then try to draw one that looks like it the same size. Here’s a good stencil set for cheap: General Purpose Junior http://www.dickblick.com/products/chartpak-pickett-arrows-and-shapes-templates/?wmcp=amazon&wmcid=feeds&wmckw=55476-1800

The best early step by step drawing book is The Big Green Drawing Book.  http://www.amazon.com/Emberleys-Big-Green-Drawing-Book/dp/0316789763/ref=pd_sim_b_8 )
