I’m Miss Saroli and I am excited to be your student teacher! I am currently studying at the State University of New York at Geneseo where I am working towards receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Childhood and Special Education. I am also minoring in dance and cannot wait to share this passion with you.

I am originally from Lake Grove on Long Island. However, since I came to school upstate, I plan to stay here! Western New York is just so beautiful and peaceful and I love working with unique students like you. I have also had teaching experiences in the Rochester Central School District at Schools 12 and 34, Dansville Elementary School, York Elementary School, and most recently at Pavilion Elementary School. I could not be happier to have the wonderful experience of working with dedicated students and teachers at The Harley School. I especially love the third grade. When I was in third grade, my teacher told me that she was an alien. What do you think??

As I mentioned in my letter home, I love to dance, draw, and paint. Being creative is one of my favorite things to do! I look forward to hearing about what your passion is or helping you find your passion if you have not already done so.
I started dancing when I was only two years old. I grew to love it! I have danced many styles, but my absolute favorite has always been tap. I now teach dance in Geneseo to 3 and 4 year old students. They are too cute!
I have also always loved going to art class. I encourage all of you to create art, whether it is by painting or creating a collage out of anything!

I have worked at a summer sleep away camp located on Shelter Island for 4 years. I have worked with students from the ages of 2-17 years old. It is a very beautiful place, with breathtaking sunsets.

I have one sister named Lauren who is studying to work with animals and be a Zoologist! Along with my family, we have 2 dogs. We have a crazy Yorkie named Abby and a sweet Black Labrador named Zuzu who we adopted.

I look forward to teaching you many new things in the third grade. We will be strengthening our multiplication facts and creating fun and engaging science projects. Get ready to work hard and have fun while we approach the next chapter in the third grade!

Continue reading »]]> Hello! I survived my first week at Harley and I am so excited to be here!
My husband, Doug, and I have two children. Ellie is 11 and in 6th grade. Sam will be 9 in October and he is in 4th grade. We also have a 12 year old Bassett Hound named Milhouse. We love to travel and visit family and friends, cook together and snuggle up on the couch for Friday family movie night!
I am looking forward to all of the adventures that this year will bring!

First day of school

     I have been teaching at Harley for 22 years. I taught Fourth Grade for 20 years, and this is my third year in Grade 3. My husband is Chris. We love to hike, bike, walk our dog Jessie, and watch our boys play sports. We also like the Yankees! I have coached the girl’s modified basketball team for seven years. In the summer I travel around to visit my nine brothers and sisters and their families. I also like to read, watch movies, and work in my garden. I am looking forward to getting to know my new wonderful class and having some exciting new learning experiences.

My name is Mrs. Green, the student teacher! I am currently a student at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo who is finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood and Special Education. While studying education in college, I also minored in environmental studies, which is a passion of mine.

Harley is my first student teaching experience, and I could not be more thrilled with the group of students and teachers that I will have the pleasure of working with for the next six weeks! My previous teaching experiences have been in the Rochester Central School District at Schools 12 and 34, Geneseo Central School, and most recently, the Monroe #1 BOCES at the Lois E. Bird School.

As I mentioned in my open house letter, I had a very busy summer! Just to name a few events from the last few months, I got married, travelled to Bermuda and Canada, and then moved from New York to Alabama! During my crazy summer, I got to snorkel, hike to the top of mountain peaks and glaciers, and visit my favorite place in the world, The Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. I hope to share some stories with you in class, and would love to hear about your summer adventures too!

To tell you a little about my personal life, I come from a family of five. Along with my parents, I have one younger sister and one younger brother. My sister, Suzie, is nineteen years old, and my brother, Shane, is thirteen. Now that I’m married, though, it’s like we have six in the family!  My husband’s name is Harrison, and he lives in Alabama where he is going to school to learn how to fly helicopters.  We also have a little puppy! She is the biggest fluff ball, and looks like a stuffed animal sometimes! Her name is Suwanee, and she is a Yorkie/Poodle mix. My hobbies and passions include baking, fashion, environmental science/studies, hiking, and singing. I especially like to bake, and I often send cookies to my family by mail.

Continue reading »]]> My name is Mrs. Oettinger. I have been teaching at Harley for eight years. I taught in Nursery Yellow for three years and have been teaching Third Grade for four years. My favorite subject to teach is reading and I also love geography. I have a passion for poetry, and I also love getting kids excited about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). My favorite part of Harley is Halloween and Elf Day.

I live in Ontario, NY with my husband, Phil. We have two daughters named Addison (she is in Primary C) and Elise (she is two and a half). We also have the world’s naughtiest dog named Ronin and two very lazy kitties.

When I’m not at Harley, I love to read, garden, snowboard, run…well…sometimes, bake, and chase my kids all over the house! I try to be outside as much as possible. I can be a bit of a neat freak and my favorite food is steak and spaghetti. Yum! I am also a coffee and tea fanatic! I enjoy cheering on the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and women’s soccer (Go Abby!).

I am looking forward to getting to know all of my 3rd graders and their families. The best part of Harley is the community we create! (That and the lunches).
