The past decade at The Harley School has been described as a period of renaissance, with renovation of our campus, an advanced role of leadership in the community, and continued growth of programs and enrollment. In recent years, we have committed to expanding summer learning opportunities for low-income City children through partnerships with local universities. Harley has taken the stage nationally and has been supported by an Educational Leadership Grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation to establish the Center for Mindfulness and Empathy Education. And our plans to build Chesonis Commons—a unique and innovative space dedicated to education for a sustainable future—will provide an educational facility like none other in the country. At the same time, we’ve maintained the highest enrollment levels in the history of the School. In fact, in 2011, we opened with a record 520 students, a testament to the value people in our region place on a Harley education.
None of this could have been accomplished without the incredible generosity of the Harley community. We continue to come together to support both our school and the greater good that it contributes to our community and nation.
Our annual giving society, The Harley Circle, continues to expand and lead the way into our Centennial Campaign. At the writing of this letter, 112 members have joined The Harley Circle and affirmed their dedication to the strength and growth of our school through financial gifts. We are grateful for their leadership and to all who support our school with generosity and commitment. We are thriving and the educational experience we offer is accessible to many children because of you.
Each year we work to engage our alumni community through reunions, regional meetings and individual visits. It is a pleasure and honor to share the news of all that is going on at The Harley School and I encourage you to attend an event in your area, or contact us to suggest one. We have a promising road ahead to the Centennial in 2017-18, and there is a place for each of us to help pave the way into the next century of our beloved school.
