This past week and weekend saw a veritable flurry of activity in the Center for Mindfulness and Empathy Education, as well as in the school kitchen and Dining Hall. First, the beautiful furniture crafted by the brilliant Mennonite carpenters arrived and was assembled in the CMEE by Jerry Martin and his co-worker Jim. You can see this process in the photos below, as well as some “house warming” work done by the Hospice class members and other invested students.
The other labor of love happened this past weekend as the students involved in supporting the Water for South Sudan efforts baked over 4000 cookies as part of their fundraiser. The kitchen smelled divine, and nearly all of the tables in the Dining Hall were covered with cooling cookies. This is becoming a favorite annual event, and Mr. S. earned his keep by delivering all of the cookie boxes around school today! Well done!
An example of the benches that now reside in the Briggs Center for Civic Engagement can be seen below. It’s all starting to come together!
