On Earth Day, April 22, educators from around the Rochester region spent an afternoon together to discuss and share ideas for how to introduce their students to sustainability, and engage them (across content areas) in an active response to climate change. The RISK workshop (Rochester Introducing Sustainability to Kids) was intentionally planned to be held on Earth Day. Divisional break-out sessions were facilitated by Dr. David Hursh of the University of Rochester, Jeanne Kaidy from McQuaid, and our own Chris Hartman. Many ideas and lessons were shared among the attendees, and robust dialogue around how to best take steps to empower our students to face the challenges our planet and all inhabitants face now and in the very near future.
