On Saturday, December 21st, hearty and enthusiastic workers came to the Science wing to move items large and small over to the new science rooms in the Commons, as well as down the hall from one classroom to another. Members of the maintenance staff, administrators, faculty, parents, and student volunteers worked diligently (and merrily, I might add) to carefully haul the remaining equipment and materials to their new homes. Kudos must be given to Carli Rivers, Peter Hentschke, Betsy Vinton and Kaitlin Bates for rallying their students judiciously to get a bulk of the “we’ll-use-these-in-the-future” items moved throughout this past week . Joe Reid, our IT man, has also put in many hours to transfer all of the computers to their new spaces, as well. We accomplished much in a little over two hours, thanks to the following people: Mike Buck, Richie Burgess, Tony LaMere, Shane Schiffhauer, Carli Rivers, Chris Hartman, Seth O’Bryan, Terry Smith, Ken Motsenbocker, Brian Scudder, Audrey Scudder, Jacob LaDue, Mia Trovato, Naomi Bennett, Caroline Paley, Seeley Taylor, and Jordan Hollands.

- RICHIE! Our own Mr. Burgess even brought his family members to help with the move!
- The “critter crew”, readying the fish tank to be moved to the Commons
- Mia cleans off the plants from the tank
- Jacob and Audrey work in the tank
- Audrey, Naomi and Mrs. Rivers taking a load over to the new 7/8 science classroom
- Mr. Scudder and Jacob siphoning out the water of Tungsten the Turtle’s tank
- Mia, taking a break in the sink
- Seeley and Caroline helping in the new space
- A quick call to check on Ph balances for the fish tank water
- Shane Schiffhauer setting up Mrs. Rivers’ new desk
- Seth O’Bryan and Jordan Hollands working on the Yapp site for the January 10th opening event
- Chris Hartman settling in well to the Workshop Space
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on the first day of winter break to get everything moved and moved well! This provides the teachers in those rooms sufficient time to come in and get things settled, and also allows the Maintenance staff to attend to matters in the rest of the Harley School building over the break. We’re getting close–just the finishing details, and then we will be fully open on January 6th!
Great job everyone! An amazing, fantastic, fabulous space to be enjoyed by the Harley community! Thanks to everyone involved in making this possible!
