At their spring in-service day, the Lower School teachers spent the afternoon in the basement spaces of the Commons. They were given the opportunity and time to create with the equipment provided, including the wood and power tools, CNC router machine, materials in the Project Space, and soil and seeds in the Greenhouse. Each faculty member was able to design and create something for the classroom or home. The energy in the air and excitement of confidently stepping outside their comfort zones was palpable. Their individual pursuits were supported by Chris Hartman and Ja’Daiza Johnson throughout the afternoon, and they sought help and support from the other teachers, as well. Not only did they get to experience the creative design process first hand, the Lower School faculty also saw ways to further connect their students to their learning through these great hands-on activities and explorations!
