Exploring Electricity

Third Graders have begun our new unit on Electricity.  For the first experiment, they had to use the materials provided to make the light bulb light.  They had no idea, but through trial and error they created their first simple circuit.  There were squeals of delight as each student got their bulb to light.  Our next experiment was with batteries.  They learned what voltage was and then had to predict which battery they thought would have the most voltage (aaa, aa, c, d)  Many thought that D would have more because it was bigger.  To their astonishment, all had the same voltage.  This made us really start to think what voltage really means and why batteries come in different sizes!  It was an excellent discussion.

An Afternoon of Holiday Muisic

Amelia’s parents came in to play some holiday Jazz music for us.  We were entertained by many carols and got to participate in the Twelve Days of Christmas.  The kids loved singing along with all of the songs.  Enjoy the pictures and videos! We sure did!

How can you not enjoy a 70 degree day in November!?!  3A spent some time soaking up the sunshine (and vitamin D) and getting cursive done.  The all earned an a+ in sun bathing!  I sure hope we get some more days like this!  cursive
